Sarala Shrestha
Director of Operations & Secretary of Trek to Teach Nepal Sarala is the Treasurer of the Executive Board of Trek To Teach. She believes that awareness through Education and Economic Development is a must for the overall development of a nation. She hopes to take these skills to Trek to Teach to improve the community and nation as a whole. Sarala has completed her masters in anthropology and post graduate in psychology. She has also participated in many workshops and seminars at national and international levels. She has extensive experience in teaching and she loves to work with people in our Himalayan communities to ensure Trek to Teach is providing the most positive impact that we can.

Ashley Mathews
Executive Director Ashley manages Trek to Teach’s finances, improves procedures of the organization and thinks critically about the long term impact of the services provided to our partnered communities. She joined Trek to Teach in 2013 as a volunteer teacher in college. After the earthquake in 2015, Ashley traveled to Nepal to do relief work and visit each of our partnered schools. She loves traveling and learning about the influence culture has on a country’s education system. She currently lives in Colorado and is earning a master's degree in professional creative writing.

Allie Cavallaro
Program Director Allie began her journey with Trek to Teach in the spring of 2016 as a volunteer teacher in Nepal. After 3 months of teaching in Chomrong, she returned home to the United States and started hosting interviews for Trek to Teach applicants. From there she began training teachers prior to their departure, compiling the data from student progress exams to report to donors, writing grant proposals to obtain additional sources of funding for infrastructure projects in Nepal, managing Trek to Teach’s website and social media presence and writing program exams and newsletters. She recently finished college with a degree in creative writing and lives in San Francisco.

Bailey Marsheck
Strategic Marketing Coordinator Bailey manages Trek to Teach’s social media advertising operations and search engine optimization (SEO). A graduate of UC San Diego, he started working with Trek to Teach in June 2016 after learning about Trek to Teach’s mission. Currently living in Beijing as he completes a Master’s program at Beijing University’s Yenching Academy, Bailey is looking forward to visiting Nepal in the near future. He is an avid dog lover and is currently missing his own two pups back in his hometown of Palo Alto, California.

Brooke Amen
Instagrammer Brooke is an outdoor enthusiast who loves fly fishing, backpacking, and skiing. While getting her degree in elementary education from the University of Wyoming, she stumbled across an amazing opportunity. As she was having coffee with a friend who had recently been a Trek to Teacher, she discovered that her heart belonged in Nepal. She decided to take a gap semester, bought a plane ticket and was rewarded with one of the most meaningful experiences of her life. She fell in love with the hearty people and the extreme landscape. All the while, she shared her experiences with others through social media. Today she continues to share the beauty of Nepal and its people through Trek to Teach’s social media pages.

Laura Shaw
Teaching Coordinator Laura joined Trek to Teach in winter 2019 as a volunteer teacher, after hearing about the program years before. Upon returning from Nepal, she began working with Trek to Teach assisting with development of teacher training and hosting interviews. She completed her Bachelor’s of Education degree then taught and coached at schools in rural Saskatchewan, Canada for six years. In 2019, she resigned from teaching in order to travel and volunteer abroad. She plans to continue traveling, teaching, playing sports, and experiencing different cultures around the world for the foreseeable future.

Darian Finley-Garcia, MSW
Partnership Coordinator Darian manages our study abroad partnerships and assists with SEO. He was introduced to Trek to Teach in 2015 when he was a volunteer teacher for 3 months in the Village of Chomrong while in college. After graduating from the University of Denver with a Master's Degree in Social Work, he came to Portland Oregon and started working with youth and families throughout the community. He loves hiking, travelling, and anything having to do with the outdoors. Darian is looking forward to visiting Nepal again in the future and continuing to improve the Trek to Teach Organization as a whole.

Regina Rudder
Teaching Coordinator Regina first went to Nepal in 2018 with Trek to Teach. She was a volunteer teacher in Kliyu, and she loved every minute of teaching and living there. After returning from Nepal, Regina completed her Bachelor’s in English and earned her TESOL Certification. She returned to Nepal in 2019 with the U.S. Peace Corps and taught English in Dhading. Currently, she is teaching at a Montessori school in America. In the future, Regina hopes to pursue a graduate degree and continue traveling, teaching, and coaching.
